The Global Initiative for
Industrial Safety
The speed of innovation and technology adoption within industries is creating gaps in knowledge and awareness of worker safety and wellbeing. One of the main reasons for this imbalance is the lack of information and uncertainty around the possible impacts of new human–machine interactions and the potential physical and psychosocial hazards for workers and users of new technology. Currently, there is no effective, centralised forum or platform addressing these challenges.
The Initiative
The initiative brings together a global coalition of stakeholders that puts safety at the heart of Fourth Industrial Revolution developments. It also aims to make the world a safer place by developing tools and resources to advance safety capabilities in the industrial sector. The initiative's activities should have three key outcomes
Providing new evidence, insights and thought leadership
Raising awareness and disseminating information around industrial safety
Building a resource platform and communities of practice.
Objectives
Initiating policy,
promoting best practice,
and building capability
Creating a global
community to discuss
future challenges and solutions
Building consensus and
sharing knowledge,
leading to universal
guidelines, standards,
and training
